Our Story
Walking your little one through the gates for the first time can bring a lot of anxiety and tears (for both of you). However, after meeting our staff and seeing our centre, you’ll be more than confident that your child is going to receive the care and education that will best prepare them for their school years and beyond.
Edelweiss Child Care Centre is a privately owned centre and has been operating in Mortdale for over 40 years, 20 of which are by the current owner. Our Child Care Centre caters for children between the ages of 2 and 6 years with a range of exciting educational programs and activities in a high quality long day care setting.
Our Philosophy
At Edelweiss Child Care Centre we believe that a child’s early years determine much of his/her future development. Extensive educational research has confirmed that the first five years in the life of a child are the most formative years. The experiences during this period have lasting and far reaching effects (EYLF).
We believe that childhood is a unique time of life, to be valued and enjoyed in it’s own right. This is the time that foundations are laid for future health, learning and well being.

My two sons attended Edelweiss over a period of three years. The kind and caring staff and calm centre environment was well suited to my sons who flourished under their care.
They made fantastic friends while attending, most of whom we still see regularly and the friendly play centre environment contributed to the growing of these important relationships.
In the year before school, my boys participated in valuable learning experiences that saw their fine motor skills grow. The centre ran the 'Ants in the Apple' phonics program which allowed both my children to start school with a comprehensive understanding of sounds.
The Kindy Hub communication system was an excellent source of information and allowed my husband and I to keep up to date each day with what our sons were doing. We were able to show them pictures and talk to them about their day, helping us to feel like we hadn't missed out on valuable time with them.

I could not recommend Edelweiss Child Care Centre enough. Not only are the staff kind and caring, they go out of their way to make sure the children have great experiences while they are there. The extra effort that goes into organising special events like Farm Day makes this centre stand out. Getting the children involved in cooking, watching eggs hatch into chicks and many more creative learning activities have built very fond memories of pre-school.
My child has now started kindergarten a very happy and confident child. I am grateful to the staff at Edelweiss for their efforts in preparing her for this.

Come in and see us
We welcome families to come in and visit our centre from 10:30am on any week day, as this allows us to have all children settled and to spend some time with you. Alternatively you can book a Centre Tour with our Director for a time that suits.
